Quilt Group Jan 2017

First meeting of 2017 was held at Cindy's and we had a wonderful time. For the most part of the winter we've been snowed in and it felt great to get out and get together again. Thank you Cindy for hosting and also Jeri for helping out with the lunch!! Not only did we have our regular Show and Tell, but we also brought items we have made through the years for Valentine's.
Announcements: Susan and Monica (who are hosting next month) issued a yoyo challenge to all of us. We were each given a square of yoyo's from the first quilt shown here and asked to come back next month with a finished piece using that square.

Here is our Show and Tell followed by a few pics of a demo given by Lenette of how to make a flanged binding and our luncheon.

SHOW AND TELL
Susan found this yoyo quilt at a garage sale. She had extra squares that she won't be using so that's how she came up with the idea for a group challenge.

Susan also shared this candy holder she made to hold Valentine's treats.

Susan also made this Christmas quilt from some pieces she received from Jean at our last meeting.

A friend made this for Susan for the winter. It's a face cover for cold weather.

This is a bag Susan got as a gift. It's a feed sack bag made by a woman in Uganda. It was purchased through an organization called Beyond Uganda that teaches women to become self sustainable through skills learned.

Susan also made this star quilt using batiks.

Jeri made this Halloween quilt.

Jeri also made these two Christmas quilts. the one above was made using pieces from Jean.

This wallhanging was also made by Jeri.

Cindy made this quilt using a kit (UFO) from Susan. she made it as a humanitarian quilt.

Kathi made this rope bowl using glow-in-the-dark nylon rope. These bowls are addicting and very easy and fun to make. Here's a tutorial she recommends by Flossie Teacakes. There are several tutorials online.

These next two were made using clothes line and wrapping scraps of fabric.

Caren made this Valentine's quilt.

Monica made this quilt for her granddaughter. It has minky on the back.

Diane made this heart quilt and also the heart banner below.

Jean made this Valentine's quilt. She said it was super easy.

Jean also made these dish towels. She got the dish towels from Craft Warehouse in Boise on a buy 2 get one free deal. She got the rickrack from PaperMart

Jean also made this purse. A tutorial can be found on Aunties Two.

This is a block of the month Jean and her sister have just started.

Corrie also made a purse fro the Aunties Two website. She and Jean said they were very easy.
