October Meeting 2014

Here are the fun show and tell pics from my group's meeting in October.
Sherry made this fun Halloween pillow.

Darla made a bunch of quilts to give away as donations again. Darla, you're so awesome for always doing this! Darla said she's pretty sure she's gonna die with the most fabric!! haha She hasn't seen the all the rest of our stashes.
Darla made this one too and said she used clips for binding and it was a great tip that she learned.

Darla made this one for a nursing home.
Darla also made this one using strips bought at Sisters, Oregon.
Jeanie made this for her granddaughter and it has grey minky on the back.
Jeanie found her pizza box squares from our last exchange! Yea! She thought she had thrown them out in the move, so this was a great find. She pieced them on point for her quilt.

Lynette crocheted the edges of these burp cloths while driving home in a truck from Florida.
Nancy made this quilt top of houses. It's a FigTree pattern.

Nancy also brought these fun hand towels to show. This one above was particularly funny.

Maurene won the jelly roll giveaway at Rachel's retreat so she made this "steps" quilt. It is hand quilted and there is flannel on the back. It's a pattern form the book "Strip Savvy" shown below. Maurene said this is a great book with lots of fun patterns.

Jeri made this duck quilt for a grandson and it uses foundation piecing.

Rachel made this wool wall hanging called "Harvest Moon".
Rachel quilted this quilt and the one below for Maurene's sister-in-law who is 93. Her sister-in-law Bessie pieced them both and the one below was made using fabrics from Maurene's mom. She made them for a family reunion. Quilting definitely runs in their family!

Project
Monica showed us how to make these cute pumpkins using canning lids, twine and leather.

My September group mtg

Here's a little of the fun we had at our last mtg. We had a wonderful show and tell especially since so many in our group attended Corrie and her sister Des's retreat, Quilt Taffy Retreat, this year.  We even had a guest speaker, Cheryl Gunn, owner of Waltzing with Bears.
Emily went to Corrie's retreat and made four tops! This one was made by using the AccuQuilt to cut the Tumbler shapes. Love your little boy, Emily!
This one Emily made by staying up til 2am with Rachel. She used a layer cake, PB&J and the pattern was from Little Louise's etsy shop.
Emily used half square triangles set on point for this quilt. She made up the pattern. The fabric is from Art Gallery - "Arizona".
A jelly roll quilt made by Emily at the retreat.

Julia made this raw edge baby quilt at the retreat.

Rachel made this beach quilt.

Rachel also made this small apple quilt (sorry it's blurry...camera problems today)
Rachel made this cute taggy quilt (still having camera problems)
Rachel used 2 1/2" scraps for this quilt.
This is a chevron quilt for Rachel's daughter's bed at school. She used half square triangles to form the chevron. On the back she used cuddle soft fabric.
I made this table topper using scraps from a previous project, then machine quilted it on my home sewing machine.

Nancy Christensen made this tumbler quilt using all scraps and wool batting. (still having camera probs)

This is a Rolling Stars pattern Cindy used to make this quilt. She made the blocks at the retreat.
Lenette made this Super Girl at the retreat. That was the theme of the retreat. If you squint your eyes, you can get rid of the blurriness. ;)

Corrie also made this book bag as a baby gift.
Maurene went to Superior Threads while she was visiting St. George, UT and bought this kit. It's called Perfect 10 by Swirly Girls.

Diane used a charm pack to make these quilt tops.

Diane made this using polka dot fabric.

Cheryl made this quilt for her son and new daughter-in-law.

This is what Cheryl says:
I have been happily designing patterns since 1995. I’ve kept my business small so I can focus on my family and keep my sanity or at least try to. It is my dream job, it helps me stay balanced and feeds my creativity.  The best part of my job is the exchange of enthusiasm for creating that others share with me and the terrific people I get to meet.
Cheryl then shared several of her quilts and patterns with us. Below are several of them.
Cheryl was featured in Quiltmania recently.

Diane then held a little raffle where each of us scratched off the paint on the card we chose to see if we were winners.
